New Projects- and Finishes

I have actually been very busy-just lazy about posting.

Here is a new product at the shop.  The idea is old-in fact, this was my second project as a new quilter.  I am sure anyone who quilted in the 80’s made at least one of these:

Only I made this:

The pattern is neat-very similar to paper piecing:

I will definitely be making more of these!

I also made a sample for Mission Rose.  It is called the Izzy Bag.

It has a cute pocket for your cell phone-and I even put a zipper in it!

It uses just 4 fat quarters and even comes with the swivel hooks for the straps.

It is a great purse for a busy day of fabric shopping!

As Promised…

…pictures from Adrienne’s visit!  This post is loaded with pictures but I hope you all (family and friends) enjoy them!

And Today is….

Tuesday.  Only it feels like Monday.  So of course I am late with this week’s video.  Waaay late.  Like a week and one day late.  Sorry.

But I had a good excuse! Well not really. Adrienne called last Monday evening and said that she and Joe and Lenny were coming to see us.  Now! They left at 11:00 pm and arrived early Tuesday morning.  They stayed until Thursday and I worked Friday, Saturday and Sunday.  We had a great time and I have LOTS of pictures to prove it!

So here is this week’s video. Since I will probably never visit a Quilt Market, I have been watching videos of the event on YouTube.  And here is a very nice one from Moda:

Enjoy!

Movie Monday 5/14/2012

No lesson today-just eye candy. Enjoy!

Happy Mother’s Day

I hope all you mommas had a wonderful Mother’s Day.  I know I did!

Katie gave me my traditional and loved gift of planting my garden- also known as the circle of dirt around my lamp post:

Beautiful cards from everyone and a great dinner by my son-in-law Dave made the day complete.

I even got a new book:

Lots of neat ideas and I even have some of the fabrics!

What Is It?

Can you guess what this is?

DSC03195

How about now?

DSC03205

Still not sure?

DSC03205

It is something lemony, with frosting and a cherry on top.  And a baby can wear it!

All I need now is a baby to put it on…

The space also houses an ice cream shop in the front.

And what an ice cream parlor! Customers pay by weight. Look at all the great options! Yummy!

Mimi’s Surprise

Mimi is my very good best friend.  She only started quilting in 2007 when I talked her into making a yellow brick road quilt.  She has visited several quilt stores and built quite a stash since that fateful day.

Anyway, Mimi is moving from Virginia to North Carolina.  She and her husband are both retiring this year.  While in VA, Mimi became part of a group of quilters who met at their local library.  Upon learning of her departure they did what most quilters do: they made her a quilt.

My only complaint is that I was not a part of the surprise…

I Don’t Like This Quilt

I really don’t like this quilt.

DSC03160

When I posted the last picture I thought it might look better hanging.

It doesn’t.

DSC03194

I was very excited making the quilt.  I loved the fabric.  I like the way it was coming together and when it was unquilted I liked it.  I was very happy with the way the quilting came out.

But I really really don’t like this quilt.

When talking to Joanne at the shop yesterday, I explained my dilemma. I thought maybe I might add some applique in black to the big light spots.  She suggested that I just accept the quilt the way it is and let it go.

Sometimes we make mistakes.  BIG mistakes.  (Maybe deep down inside I am worried that all my quilts are ugly and I have lost my mojo…)

I think I will take her advice.
